  • All requirements should be described logically.
  • It should be short, clear, neat and easy to follow.
  • It should have a logical start and finish.
  • There are two possible directions for flow – top to bottom, left to  right.
  • Only one flow line should come out from a process symbol.  
  • In a decision symbol, only one flow line will enter but at least  two lines will flow out.
  • The termination symbol should use only one flow line in or out.  
  • If the flowchart becomes lengthy then you can divide it and use  connectors.
