Answer:

Sufis were Muslim mystics. They rejected out ward religiosity and emphasised love and devotion to God and compassion towards all fellow human beings. They rejected elaborate rituals and terms of behaviour demanded by the Muslim religious scholars. They believed that the heart can be trained to look at the world in a different view. They developed many practices using zikr (chanting of a name or sacred formala) contemplation, Sama (singing) , raqs (dancing) , discussion of parables, breadth control etc under the guidance of a master or pir.
