Gulliver heard about the Struldbrugs during his stay in Luggnagg. He was told that they were immortal. Gulliver was extremely happy to know this because he felt that they could enjoy immense wealth and gain a lot of wisdom if they lived forever.
However, when he came to know the reality that they grow old, feeble, forgetful and lose many of their human virtues after the age of 80 he felt sad.
He was told that their marriages got dissolved automatically at the age of 80 because no two people could stand each other for eternity. They were considered to be legally dead at 80 and could no longer own any property. Language changed all the time so the Struldbrugs who were above the age of 200 could not understand the language of them
