It is a non-specific type of defence that is present at the time of birth.

Types of Innate Immunity :

1. Physical Barrier :

It is made of two parts :-

  • Skin - Outermost layer of skin

  • Mucosal Surface - Food and aur passage lined by mucosa

2. Physiological Barrier

Many physiological Barrier functions of body make the unfavourable environment for the growth of microbes

  • Fever

  • pH of body

  • Secretions

3. Cellular Barrier

In Response to the pathogenic infection the total count if WBC in body increase.

Most important phagocytes are Macrophages and Neutrophils.

4.Cytokine Barrier :

Certain kind of vertebrates cell when infected with a virus respond by realasing a small amount of a class of glycoprotein called interferons.
