Gupta's experience of meeting Maggie and her family
Explanation:
- When I was in London, I met this beautiful well-mannered girl named "Maggie". She was there with her mother. We had a conversation for quite a long time. Her mother was worried about her brother who was a soldier in the British Army. He was posted on the frontier in India.
- Thus, Maggie's mother wanted to know about Indians, so that she has an idea how his bother must be doing in India. I agreed to help them with their poor household.
- They asked me to tell them about Frank by looking into a magical ring that can tell about anybody. That ring was actually sent by Frank from India. I couldn't see anything in that.
- While I was leaving for India, I couldn't gather the courage to face them but I wrote a letter to them informing them about my departure. Soon before I was leaving, Maggie came and handed over a shilling to me and asked me to offer flowers on the grave of Mr Frank who was killed on Indian frontier.
