Given : needed to bake at least 252 cookies

baked 8 batches of peanut butter cookies with 12 cookies in each batch

baked n batches of chocolate chip cookies with 15 cookies in each batch.

To Find : inequality can be used to determine the number of batches of chocolate chip cookies  needed to bake

Solution:

needed to bake at least 252 cookies

=> Cookies required  ≥  252

baked 8 batches of peanut butter cookies with 12 cookies in each batch

=> peanut butter cookies  baked = 8 x 12  = 96

baked n batches of chocolate chip cookies with 15 cookies in each batch.

=> chocolate chip cookies baked = n x 15  = 15n

Total cookies baked = 15n + 96

15n + 96  ≥  252

=> 15n    ≥  252  - 96

=> 15n    ≥  252  - 8(12)

=>   252  - 8(12)  ≤ 15 n

required inequality

15n    ≥  252  - 96

=> 15n ≥  156

=>  n ≥  10.4

atleast 11 batches
