Guttation is the process in which liquefied water is given off from plants.
It takes place through Hydathodes .
Guttation is caused when root pressure pushes water up to the leaves and stem from the roots . This occurs during the night when stomata are closed and transpiration is over for the day. It occurs in plants [that are less than about 10 m tall,] where hydrostatic pressure is not sufficient to prevent it stop the flow of water into the xylem, when the rate of transpiration is low.
Hope it helps you.

Guttation takes place through hydathodes.
- Guttation is defined as the secretion of liquid from the pores of vascular plants. The specific liquid is xylem sap, which contains water, minerals and salts.
- It happens during night time. The pores from which guttation occurs are called hydathodes and they are present in leaves.
- The reason for the occurence of guttation is the increase in root pressure.
