Question :

Which of the following liberate hydrogen on reacting with dilute H₂SO₄?

Answer :

OPTION c ) Al

Explanation :

The reaction of aluminium ( Al ) with dilute H₂SO₄ is :

\mathsf{2Al+3H_2SO_4(dilute)\rightarrow Al_2(SO_4)_3+3H_2\uparrow}

The active metals are the metals which are highly reactive . They are present at the top of the electrochemical series .

These metals react with dilute sulphuric acid to give hydrogen gas.

If they react with concentrated sulphuric acid then they will liberate sulphur dioxide and water vapour .

They will also liberate the respective salts .

These metals will liberate hydrogen when reacted with concentrated sulphuric acid :

K

Na

Al

Zn

Note that iron can also give but since this is multiple choice and aluminium is above iron in the series , I will select OPTION c

The metals below hydrogen in the electrochemical series never react with dilute sulphuric acid .

Zinc will produce hydrogen gas on reaction with dilute sulphuric acid. Because zinc is more reactive than hydrogen so it displaces hydrogen from sulphuric acid. Whereas copper is less reactive than hydrogen in activity series it placed below hydrogen .hence copper can displace hydrogen from H2SO4.

hope it helps u bhai mark as brainliest please
