Answer:

2m = 200cm

40-2x= 200

2x= 200- 40 = 160

x=160/2

x=80

so the smallest piece is 80 cm

Answer:

1m=100 cm

2m=200cm

let the others piece be x .

twice of x=2x

40 cm less then 2x

2x-40

According to problem

2x-40=200

2x=160

x= 80

the length of twice x = 160 cm.

other piece = 160-40

120

so the smaller piece= 200-120

80 cm.

or 0.8 m.
