English, asked by eeshamaryam, 1 month ago

Guys, I'm having an English speech on 26 February but students will be selected on the 19th. So, the topic for Grade Eight is "Better Bend Than Break". I want to get selected in it very much 'coz I've been waiting for this competition since last year.
My mom will write it for me, but I should know what exactly is the meaning of the topic. I know it's an idiom, but it's meaning is not clear to me.
Can someone please explain its meaning to me?
Also wish me good luck, I really need your support.

Answer:

I don't know why you're contemplating ending your relationship over this —it's really not that big a deal. Better bend than break, you know?

Answer:

It means that you don't need to break everything, you can lengthen it and make it proper for example, you don't want to study but better than not studying you can take a break from your studies and then start again but it is not that you have to stop studying for the whole year or life ( it is an example ok, even if it is absurd).

Hope u understood and best of luck for ur competition
