45 girls can manage their food for 60 days

1 girl would manage for 45×60 days

X girls can manage their food for 100 days

X = (45× 60)/100 = 2700/100 = 27 girls

therefore 27 girls can manage their food food upto 100 days

27 girls remained in hostel

Correct Question :

There was enough stock of food for 45 gírls for 60 days in a hostel . Some gírls moved out of the hostel and the same food lasted for 100 days. Find the number of gírls who remained at the hostel .

Solution :

Here , we need to find the number of gírls who remained at the hostel , but we will be assuming that the number of gírls who moved out of the hostel is x ; instead of the number of gírls remaining being x .

Now ,

Remaining number of gírls -

( 45 - x ) .

Now , the food lasted for 100 days .

The number of days the food lasted × No of gírls is always constant .

> D_1 × G_1 = D_2 × G_2 = Constant .

> ( 45 - x ) × 100 = 45 × 60

> ( 45 - x) = 27

> x = 45 - 27

> x = 18

So, ( 45 - x ) = 45 - 18 = 27 .

Thus , the number of gírls who remained at the hostel is 27.

This is the required answer .
