Which is this reaction and why????

Naming of carboxylic acid is done by the adding “oic” acid to the end of the alkane chain and emitting one vowel from the alkane part .

So for this molecule, it contains three carbon atoms therefore propane+ oic acid

E of propane and o oic acid can't be written together so we omit “e” of propane

Hence the name propanoic acid

it is oxidation reaction CH2-OH will oxidise into COOH
