$h_{liq} = 10cm$

taking the mercury level as reference level and equating the pressures in both the arms

⇒ ρ (water) x g x 8cm = ρ (liq) x g x 10cm

⇒ 1 g/cc x  g x 8 cm = ρ (liq) x g x 10cm

⇒  ρ (liq) = 8 / 10 = 0.8 g/cc

   ∴ ρ (liq) = 0.8 g/cc
