Hey mate !

u = 40 m/sec
g = 10 m/sec²( in opposite directions symbol '-' use)

time taken to react the top most point is "t''

we have a formula

v = u - at

0 = 40 - (10)t

-40 = -10 t

t = 4 sec

Distance travelled in 4 sec

S1 = ut + 1/2 at²

=> 40 × 4 - 0.5 × 10 × 4²( upward direction g in negative)

=> 80m

a) in 2 sec

in this initial velocity becomes zero because particle came in downward direction and gravity pulls this ( '+')

here time is less we will taking it -2 sec or 2 sec

S2 = ut + 1/2 at²

= 0×2 - 1/2 (10)(2)²

= 0 - 1/2 × 10×4

= -1/2 (40)

= -20 m ( or 20 m )

Total distance is 80+(-20) = 60m

Net displacement is 80-20 = 60 m

b) 4 sec

Difference of time = 4-4 = 0 sec

S3 = ut + 1/2 at²

= 0×0 + 1/2 ( 10) (0)²

= 0 m

Total Distance = 80m - 0m

= 80 m

Displacement = 80 m

c) 6 sec

Difference of time = 6 sec - 4 sec

=> 2 sec

S4 = ut +1/2 at²

=0 + 1/2 (10)(2)²

= 1/2(40)

= 20 m

Total distance = 80+20 = 100 m

Net displacement = 80-20 = 60 m
