 \implies\left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf2x&\sf x\\\sf y&\sf 3y \end{array}\right]\left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf3 \\\sf 2 \end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf16 \\\sf 9\end{array}\right]

Now we will do multiplication on left hand side :-

\implies\left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf(2 \times 3)x + 2x \\ \\ \sf 3y +( 2 \times 3y) \end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf16 \\ \\ \sf 9\end{array}\right]

\implies\left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf6x + 2x \\ \\ \sf 3y +6y \end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf16 \\ \\ \sf 9\end{array}\right]

\implies\left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf8x \\ \\ \sf 9y \end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}\sf16 \\ \\ \sf 9\end{array}\right]

Now we will equate/compare both sides :-

 \implies \rm 8x = 16 \\ \\ \implies \rm x = \dfrac{16}{8} \\ \\\implies \rm x = 2

\implies \rm 9y = 9 \\ \\ \implies \rm y= \dfrac{9}{9} \\ \\\implies \rm y = 1

Answer :

  • x = 2
  • y = 1
