Answer:

x=1, y=4

Step-by-step explanation:

In rectangle, opposite edges are equal to each other.

So, x+3y = 13 . . .(1)

     3x+y = 7  . . .(2)

Doing (1) * 3 - (2) =>

8y = 32

=> y = 4

So, x = 13 - 3*4 = 1

Answer:

  • We know that opposite side of a rectangle are equal .

Therefore ,

  • x + 3y = 13 -----------(1)

  • 3x + y = 7 ------------(2)

multiplying equation ( 1) by 3

3 ( x + 3y = 13 )

3x + 9y = 39 ------------(3)

subtracting equation 2 from 3 .

3x + 9y = 39

-3x - y = - 7

_____________

8y = 32

y = 32/8

y = 4

  • putting y = 4 in equation (1)

x + 3y = 13

x + 3 × 4 = 13

x + 12 = 13

x = 13 - 12

x = 1

  • therefore option 1 is right answer
