Heya!
Here's your answer! ^^
1. Let the number of pants purchased be x
And skirts purchased be y.
Then the number of skirts purchased = 2 × (no. of pants purchased) - 2
=> y = 2x - 2
=> 2x - y - 2 = 0 (i)
Also, the no. of skirts purchased = 4 × (no. of pants purchased) - 4
=> y = 4x - 4
=> 4x - y - 4 = 0 (ii)
____________________________________
Solving (i),
2x - y - 2 = 0
=> y = 2x - 2
Let x = 1, then -
So, x = 1, y = 0 is a solution
Now, let x = 2, then -
So, x = 2, y = 2 is a solution too
____________________________________
Solving (ii)
Let x = 1
Then, y = 4(1) - 4 = 0
So, (1, 0 ) is a solution
Let x = 2
y = 4 ( 2 ) - 4 = 4
So, (2, 4) is a solution too
____________________________________
On plotting both the solutions on the graph,
Number of pants bought by champa = x = 1
Number of skirts bought by Champa = y = 0
Another solution of the same bit can be by subtracting equation (i) from (ii) too.
Hope it helps! ^^
