Answer:

as we know that

R = rho(l/A)

therefore the initial resistance was rho(l/A)

After changing the new resistance is

R= ¶ (1/3l/2A) here ¶ is equal to rho

R =¶(l/6A)

on comparing we find that the new resistance is 1/6 of the initial resistance.
