a) 3a + 2b
= 3 × 2 + 2 × 3
= 6 + 6
= 12
b) 2a - b
= 2 × 2 - 3
= 4 - 3

2. If x = - 1 , y = 2 , z = -3 find the value of ,
a) x + y + z
= - 1 + 2 -3
= 0
b) 2x - 3y + 6z
= 2 × - 1 - 3 × 2 + 6 × - 3
= - 2 - 6 - 18
= - 8 - 18
= - 26
3. If p = - 3 , q = 0 , r = 2 find the value of
a ) p + q + r + 1
