In ABC School, Gurgaon, Sports Day Activities were conducted in the rectangular school ground. Lines have been drawn with chalk powder at a distance of 1m each. 100 flower pots have been placed at a distance of 1m from each other along AD. If Niharika runs at speed of 15 m in a minutes in 2nd line and Preet runs 10 m in a minutes in 8th line.

Answer the following questions based on the above passage :

(a) What is the distance covered by Niharika and Preet in 5 minutes.

(b) What are the locations of Niharika and Preet after 5 minutes?

( c) What is the distance between Niharika and Preet after 5 minutes?

(a.) Speed of Niharika = 15m/min

Time = 5 min

Distance covered = (15 X 5) m = 75m

Speed of preet = 10m/min

Distance = (10 X 5)m = 50m

(b.) Niharika will be at 75th plant and preet will be at 50th plant.

(c.) Coordinates of Niharika - (2,75)

Coordinates of preet - (8,50)

Using distance formula,

Distance =

 \sqrt{ {(8 - 2)}^{2}  +   {(50 - 75)}^{2}  }

 \sqrt{ {6}^{2}  +{25}^{2} }

 \sqrt{661}
