When Framton Nuttel learned the truth about the Sappleton tragedy, he felt quite sad and tried to console the lady. He was feeling quite sympathetic for the family he left behind.
On seeing the three coming up to him ,he became scared and ran away.
On learning he had been tricked, he could have become angry and wished to take revenge on the people. He could also have felt insulted at being fooled so easily.
