let the total distance be x,
then,

∴ The total distance to home is 78km.

The remaining distance he need to travel= (1-1/3)x
                                                                        =((3-1)/3 )(78)
                                                                        =(2/3)(78)
                                                                        =156/3
∴The remaining distance he need to travel=52kms
