It depends on the quantity of gypsum, & the lab set up you have.  

Small amounts [upto 5 gms] can be boiled in a beaker[250 ml] with ~ 175 ml water, filtered hot, repeat the same till you get residues of required purity ! Alternately, start adding boiled water into the filter paper with the gypsum, after the first round of boiling, & continue !
