H3PO3 IS NOT A TRIBASIC ACID
CHARGE ON HYDROGEN IS +1
CHARGE ON PHOSPHITE ION IS -1
THEREFORE,BASICITY OF H3PO3 IS=3(1)-1=2
IT IS A DIBASIC ACID

H3PO3 is dibasic acid ,not tribasic acid.

Observe the structure -OH groups are bonded to phosphorous atom and one hydrogen is directly bonded to phosphorous atom.

Breaking O-H bond is easy so these two -OH groups are responsible for making this compound as diprotic/dibasic. But another Hydrogen is directly bonded to phosphorous atom, it is difficult to break the bond because it is highly stable.

That is why H3PO3 is dibasic acid not the tribasic.
