There are many characteristics of living things. Some important ones are given below;

  1. Living things can move from one place to another.
  2. Living things can take their foods on their own.
  3. Some living things are dependent on others for food purposes.
  4. A living thing has cell or cells and various types of the metabolic process occurs in the cells.
  5. Living things have the capability to reproduce.

Examples: Human and Birds.

These both can move from one place to another for collecting foods. They are multicellular and a various catabolic or chemical reaction occurs within the cells of these two. Along with this, they have all those characters which are present in living things.

Requirement 2

Examples of two nonliving things which show some characteristics of living things are given below:

  • Car: It's a nonliving thing but it can move from one place to another as like living things.
  • Water: Water is also a nonliving thing but it can flow from one place to another which is similar to the character of living things from the point of view of the movement.
