here we have to find the HCF by the Euclid algorithm which uses the remainder theorem until we get the remainder as 0 to get the HCF of the given terms

The HCF can be calculated as:

  • 240 = 155×1 + 85
  • 155 = 85×1 + 70
  • 85 = 70×1 + 5
  • 70 = 5×14 + 0

The last divisor is 5

Hence the HCF of 240 and 155 is 5
