HI is a better reagent thn HBr bcoz the cleavage of ehers involves the nucleophilic attack of the halid ion on the protonated ether molc Obviously greater the nucleophilicity of the halid ion more reactive is the halogen acid .since the nucleophilicity of the halid ion is -
