Hi all,
Pythagoras was among those who originated that the earth is round or sphere. Aristotle (384–322 BC) provided the physical and observational argument to support the idea of round earth. Later Eratosthenes (276–194 BC) estimated the size of earth.
Earth is flattened from the poles and bulge out from the equator. This shape is known as geoid. The scope of this concept goes much beyond the ambit of the syllabus in your current grade.
Hope, this information helps you all.
Best wishes!!
