Oliver's encounter with the faceless boy and the watchman could be seen as a creation of his imagination. But this school of thought is apparently less convincing as the narrator mentions “Oliver was not a nervous or imaginative man”.

When I visited the local bazaar, I was astonished to see the variety of things being sold. From colourful and shiny clothes and accessories to the savoury hot and cold delicacies, anything and everything was there. The customers and shopkeepers were in cordial amity which made them trust each other blindly.
