3. The achievements of science in the 20th century are
quite significant. In every sphere of life, the influence of
science can be easily felt. When you get up in the
morning, you start using commodities that are all gifts of
science. Such things come out of factories where
scientific principles are used for practical ends. Science,
to some extent, has also enabled us to have control over
nature. In recent times, the predictions of the
supercyclones in southern India have saved thousands
of lives. Science has also been instrumental in reducing
distance. It has brought distant parts of the world closer
together. The world is now a village, where travelling from
one country to another is like going from one
neighbourhood to another. Also think, how the wonderful
medicines have cured human diseases in the modern
days. Even a layman cannot ignore the contribution of
science as it is beneficial for human beings and makes
their lives prosperous.
