law of conservation of mass says that the total mass of reactants is equal to the total mass of the product

ie; mass can neither be created not be destroyed in a chemical reaction.

here the reactants are H2 and Cl2

so the sum of their masses is (1×2)+(35.5×2)= 2+71= 73g

here the products are 2HCl

so the mass of product is 2(1+35.5)= 2×36.5= 73g

therefore the mass of reactants is equal to the mass of the product

hence this equation is in accordance with the law of conservation of mass.
