Formaly water is an oxide (because oxygen is more electronegative element) but often is more expedient to consider water as hydride in the same manner as methane or ammonia. Hydrogen halides are also usually considered as hydrides.

Sudhanshu79: what is electronegative
Anupamasrimaa: It means that the element get more ions of -ve charge electricaly.
Sudhanshu79: oooooo thx
