H2S asts only as a reducing agent but so2 acts both as a reducing agent as well as an oxidising agent

1) oxygen is more -ve in SO2

2) hydrogen in H2S is more +ve than that of oxygen in SO2.

3) S in SO2 had o.s +4

4) S in H2S has -2 oxidation state ( o.s )
