If H3PO4 is a triprotic acid while H3PO3 is diprotic, why? The structure of H 3 P O 4 is as under: Here there are 3 H atoms connected to 3 O atoms. These atoms are converted into ions by donating 1 electron to Oxygen as Oxygen has more electronegativity than hydrogen. ... Thus H 3 P O 3 is diprotic.

Hey mate....

here's the answer....

H3PO3 is diprotic because it have 2 P—OH bonds and 1 P—H bond.

H3PO4 contains 3 P—0H bonds.

Hope this helps❤
