every girl child is born with thousand ovaries that can be fertilised with a sperm to give birth to a young one.

but, not all ovaries are fertilised. Once a girl is twelve years old, she attains reproductive maturity and hence one ovary is released into the uterus every month. but since there is no sexual contact, the ovary does not get fertilised, and hence it dies. therefore the dead ovary comes out of the vagina in the form of blood and tissues.

this is a typical menstrual cycle.
