Haashib can do a piece of work in 27 days while kavita alone can do it in 54 days. in how many days haashib and kavita working together can do the same work?

one day work of haashib=1/27
one day work of kavitha=1/54
so,
one day work of both haashib and kavitha is 1/27+1/54
3/54

Both kavitha and haashid can complete the work in 18 days.

The No of days to complete the work together is 18 days

Given:

Haashib can do a piece of work in 27 days

Kavita can do same work in 54 days

To find:

How many days it will take to complete the work when Haashib and Kavita work together

Solution:

From given data,  

Haashib can do the work in 27 days

⇒ the work can done by Haashib in 1 day = \frac{1}{27}

Kavita can do same work in 54 days  

⇒ the work can done by Kavita in 1 day = \frac{1}{54}

The work can be done by Haashib and Kavita together in 1 day =  \frac{1}{27} + \frac{1}{54}

= \frac{2+1}{54} = \frac{3}{54} = \frac{1}{18}  

They will complete  \frac{1}{18} of work in 1 day

The No of days to complete 1 work = \frac{1}{\frac{1}{18} } (1)  = \frac{18}{1} = 18

Therefore, Haashib and Kavita together can complete the work in 18 days
