Habit of reading on books is decreasing now every days in younger generations

I don't know why the habit of reading books is decreasing now a days in younger generation. I can see my friends having their own account in social media know they used to study from internet. now the home works in our school are done in internet . my mother said that she was having a bookshelf not a television but now in this younger generation be kids are having televisions mobile phones others not books . she also said that reading books increase the imagination but nowadays kids does want to read a book without any picture or doesn't want to read I promise to my mum that I will read books and novels everyday.
