If the British had not defeated the combined forces of Awadh, Bengal and the Mughals, the course of Indian history would be different, because after the battle of Buxar, the British got the Diwani rights of Bengal. Bihar And Orissa. Shuja-ud-Daulah was made to pay 50 lakhs. This provided them more money for further expansion of the British empire. Also, it was very conclusive battle in our history which exposed the rulers' weakness. This, gave them more confidence and they understood that they need not fear from Indian rulers and they did not followed the commands given by the Nawabs. But to take a note of, the battle of Buxar wasn't really (or rather the only) a turning point for the British company. It was the second Anglo-Maratha war of 1802-03. This gave them their empire of Hindustan and Marathas lost Delhi.
