If the British had not defeated the combined forces of awadh, Bengal and the Mughals, The course of history would be different. After the battle of buxar, the British got the Diwani rights of Bengal, bihar and orissa. Mir jafar was made to pay 50 lakes. This provided them more money for further expansion of the British empire. Also, it was a very conclusive battle in our history which exposed the ruler's weakness. This gave them more confidence and they understood that they need not to fear from Indian rulers and they did not follow the commands given by the Nawab.

I hope it helps you.
