‘Haemoglobin’ is a type of carrier protein, which plays ‘indispensable part’ in respiration.

Explanation:

  • Hemoglobin is a carrier protein which carries gases like oxygen, carbon dioxide and even carbon monoxide.
  • Adult Hemoglobin contains two alpha chain and two beta chain. In case of fetal hemoglobin there are two alpha chain and two gamma chain.
  • The oxygen binds with hemoglobin at the lungs. The hemoglobin releases the oxygen at the organ where oxygen concentration is low.
  • Similarly it then binds with carbon dioxide and releases it at the lungs.
