Hemophilia can affect women, too

When a female has one affected X chromosome, she is a “carrier” of hemophilia. Being a female carrier of hemophilia is not the same as having hemophilia, although female carriers may experience symptoms of hemophilia.

Haemophilia does not occur in females because:

1. It is a sex linked recessive disease.

2. Mother are usually carrier for this

disease.

3.females can be haemophilic if their

mother are carrier and fathers are

haemophilic.

4. This disease is generally found in males

and have gene of disease on X

chromosome.
