Static Electricity

Explanation:

When we run a comb through our hairs, if we bring the same comb near small pieces of paper, what we will observe is the static electricity in action.

We noticed that the small pieces of paper get attracted towards the comb and cling to each other as if something is attracting them. This due to the force of attraction caused by static electricity.

Although the pieces of paper are electrically neutral and do not contain any charge still behave as if they have polarity. This phenomenon occurs because the neutrality or the presence of no poles in the paper can be altered by the presence of any electric field. When we rub the comb against our hair, they get electrically charged which in turn induces polarity in the small pieces of paper. The pole of paper near the comb will be positive(+) and the other will be negative(-).
