Given:

Half area of one face of a cube = 8 cm²

To find:

The length of one edge of a cube

Solution:

Let "a" be the length of one edge of a cube.

We know that one face of the cube will be in square in shape.

So, the formula of area of one of the face of a cube will be,

Area of one face = a²

Therefore, according to the question, we get the equation as

½ × [Area of one face of a cube] = 8

⇒ ½ × [a²] = 8

⇒ a² = 8 × 2

⇒ a² = 16

⇒ a = \sqrt{16}

a = 4 cm

Thus, the length of one edge of a cube is 4 cm.
