Deer = 72

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Half of a herd of deer are grazing in field.
  • 3/4th of remaining deer are playing nearby.
  • Number of deer drinking water is 9.

To Find:

  • What is the total number of deer in the herd?

Solution: Let the total number of deer in herd is x. Therefore,

Deer grazing in filed = x/2

∴ Remaining deer = x – x/2 = x/2

Deer playing nearby = 3/4 of remaining

= 3/4 × x/2 = 3x/8

Number of deer drinking water = 9

Now, A/q

  • If we add all the deer together then we will get the total number of deer in herd.

\implies{\rm } x = x/2 + 3x/8 + 9

\implies{\rm } x = 4x + 3x + 72/8

\implies{\rm } 8x = 7x + 72

\implies{\rm } 8x 7x = 72

\implies{\rm } x = 72

Hence there are total 72 deer in the herd.
