Let the no. of deers be x

half graze i.e. x/2          Now remain x/2

3/4th of remaining i.e. x/2 play in the field which is 3/4 * x/2 = 3x/8

Now remain x/8 deers which, as stated are drinking water and are 9 Thus,

x/8 = 9      or

x = 72

Therefore, there are 72 deers in the field

Hope it helps!

Answer:

72 is the answer

Step-by-step explanation:

Let number of deer be x

Number of deer grazing in field =x/2

Number of deer playing nearby =3/4* number of remaining deer

=3/4*x-x/2

=3/4*x/2

3x/8

Number of deer drinking water from the pond =9

X-(x/2 +3x/8)=9

X-(4x/8+3x+8)=9

X-7x/8=9

X/8=9

X=9*8

X=72

Hence, total number of deer in the herd is 72
