Given:-

  • Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden = 36 m
  • Width = x m
  • Length = 4+x m

Find:-

  • the dimensions of the garden.

Formula:-

\pink{\fbox{Perimeter = 2(l+w) }}

Solution:-

Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden = 36 m

Perimeter = 36×2 m

=> Perimeter = 72 m

\\

Let width = x m

Length = 4+x m

\\

Perimeter = 72 m

=> 2(Length+width) = 72 m

=> 2 ( 4+x + x ) = 72 m

=> 2 ( 4+2x ) = 72 m

=> 8+4x = 72 m

=> 4(2+x) = 72 m

=> 2+x = \frac{72}{4} m

=> 2+x = 18 m

=>  x = 18-2 m

=>  x = 16 m

\\

Answer:-

Width = x => 16 m

Length = 4+x = 16+4 m => 20 m
