Given

Half Perimeter ⇒ 32 m

Breadth ⇒ x m

Length ⇒ (x + 4) m

To Find

The length and breadth of rectangular garden.

Solution

Half Perimeter ⇒ 32 m

Perimeter of Rectangular Field ⇒ 32 × 2 = 64 m

Breadth ⇒ x m

Length ⇒ (x + 4) m

Perimeter of Rectangle ⇒ 2 (Length × Breadth)

Perimeter of Rectangular Garden ⇒ 2 (x + x + 4) = 64

Let's solve your equation step-by-step.

2 (x + x + 4) = 64

Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation.

2 (x + x + 4) = 64

(Distribute)

(2) (x) + (2) (x) + (2) (4) = 64

2x + 2x + 8 = 64

(Combine Like Terms)

(2x + 2x) + (8) = 64

4x + 8 = 64

Step 2: Subtract 8 from both sides.

4x + 8 - 8 = 64 - 8

4x = 56

Step 3: Divide both sides by 4.

4x ÷ 4 = 56 ÷ 4

x = 14

Breadth ⇒ x ⇒ 14

Length ⇒ x + 4 ⇒ 14 + 4 ⇒ 18

Question

Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden, whose length is 4 m more than its width, is 32 m. Find the length and breadth of the garden.

Solution

Half perimeter of rectangular garden = 32m

Full perimeter = (32×2)m = 64m

Let, breadth be x

length be x+4

ATP

2(l+b) = 64

=) 2(x+4+x) = 64

=) 2(2x+4) = 64

=) 4x+8 = 64

=) 4x = 64-8

=) x = 56/4 = 14

Ans:- Length = (14+4)m = 18m

Breadth = 14m
