let the width of reactangle is = x and length is= x=y+4and half of perimeter , perimeter of rectangle is 2(x+y)/2=36
equation x-y=4
x+y=36
using elimination and solve this equation y=16and x=20

Let , the length of the rectangle be 'x'

the breadth of the rectangle be 'y'

$\frac{1}{2} \times 2(x + y) = 36 \\ \\ = > x + y = 36 - - - - - (i)$



$\underline \bold {2nd \: condition}$

$x = y + 4 \\ \\ = > x - y = 4 - - - - - (ii)$


$\underline \bold {from \: (i) \: and \: (ii)}$

$x + y = 36 \\ \\ x - y = 4 \\( - ) \: ( + ) \: \: ( - ) \\ - - - - - - - - - \\ \\ 2y = 32 \\ \\ = > y = \frac{32}{2} \\ \\ y = 16$


From ii

x - y = 4
x = 4 + 16
=20


Length = 20 m
Breadth = 16 m
