Thermite process is a reduction of metal oxide with highly reactive metal like sodium and aluminium. These reactions are highly exothermic.

eg:- Iron oxide when reacted with aluminium gives iron and aluminium oxide and large amount of heat which meltsthe metal which is reduced.
