Halogens have higher electron gain enthalpy .why?

This is due to their small size and higher effective nuclear charge. Due to these two parametershalogens easily gain one electron to complete their octet and attain Noble gas configuration.

Hi mate

Halogens have higher electron gain enthalpy because halogens electronic configuration is ns^2 ,np^5( where n is the number of shells) halogens need only one electron to complete their shell or octant. due to need of electron they have more tendency to gain electrons that's why halogens have higher electron gain enthalpy.
